Keeping Your Tires Inflated
There are many vehicle owners today who drive with underinflated tires or what others call “overloaded” tires. They may think that it is nothing but it can be hazardous.
A well-inflated tire will allow you to enjoy safer driving, maximum traction and good handling.
Here are just some of the simple but important tips you need to keep in mind when travelling:
1. As the season changes, your car changes too. There are several preventive measures to avoid untoward incidences. Make sure that your tire’s pressure is in good condition especially of you are planning a long trip. The correct inflation pressure for your tires can easily be checked in the user’s manual.
2. If you plan to bring loads of stuff, check first if they pass the load requirements of your vehicle. When your card is overload, it may cause too much heat in your tires. Make sure that you check the balance of your wheels if you wish to drive with a heavy load.
3. Remember that the amount of air required to properly inflate a tire depends on the size and type of tire and the size and weight of your car.
4. You should always check the tire pressure with the use of a gauge. If the tire is overinflated, depress the valve stem core to vent air. If it is low, add some air.
5.
Most mechanics advise drivers to check their tire pressure monthly. The right air pressure for tires that come with new cars can usually be found in the owner’s manual.
